Add Guest Names to Blocked Dates

Problem Statement:

  • Currently, when dates are blocked in Hospitable, there's no way to associate or display which guest the block is for
  • When manually blocking dates while awaiting guest confirmation to avoid double booking, the blocked date shows no guest information
  • Once a guest confirms, there's no seamless way to have the calendar reflect the guest name
  • Guests need a way to log in directly to book dates without manual intervention

Current Workaround:

  • Manually tracking blocked dates and their associated guests in external spreadsheets or notes
  • Relying on memory or separate communication channels to remember which guest caused a block
  • Manually updating external records after guest confirmation
  • Guests may need to go through external booking platforms or manual processes to book

Impact:

  • Time wasted cross-referencing external notes with calendar blocks
  • Risk of confusion when multiple guests are involved in blocked periods
  • Reduced visibility into booking patterns and guest-related blocks
  • Manual effort to update records after confirmation
  • Additional friction for guests trying to book directly

Proposed Solution:

  • Allow users to add guest names (or notes referencing guests) directly to blocked dates in the calendar
  • Display the associated guest name when viewing blocked dates
  • Automatically update the blocked date with the guest name once confirmation is received
  • Enable guests to log in directly to book available dates

Unlock:

  • Quick visual identification of which guests are associated with blocked dates
  • Streamlined workflow without needing external tracking tools
  • Better visibility into guest-related scheduling decisions
  • Seamless transition from blocked to confirmed booking with guest name visible
  • Direct booking capability for guests
