Add “Power Outage / Breaker Box Access” Category to Questions (or Allow Custom AI-Detected Categories)

Hospitable’s Questions feature is a game-changer for automating replies to common guest inquiries, but one important scenario seems to be missing: power outages due to tripped breakers.

Guests sometimes email saying they “lost power in a room” or “flipped a switch and now nothing works,” asking if someone can come help. In many cases, the solution is simply to guide them to the breaker box so they can flip the switch themselves.

Right now, there’s no category for “Power” or “Breaker Box,” nor is there an option to create a custom category for these types of AI-detected questions. This means I either have to manually reply or hope the system categorizes it incorrectly under something like “Lights” or “Other.”

Why This Matters:

  • Immediate guest response: A fast, automated reply could explain how to access the garage, locate the labeled breaker box, and safely reset the circuit—no host intervention needed.

  • Common guest issue: This is a frequent pain point, especially in older homes or vacation rentals with high appliance usage.

  • Saves time: Automating this reduces response lag and improves guest experience during an inconvenient moment.

  • Consistency: Just like “Wi-Fi” and “Hot Tub” have dedicated categories, so should power-related issues.

Two possible solutions:

  1. Add a “Power / Electrical” question category under Questions (alongside Wi-Fi, Hot Tub, etc.)

  2. Allow hosts to create custom AI-detected question categories with our own responses for recurring guest issues.

Thanks for considering this addition—it would make Hospitable even more powerful for hands-off hosting and guest satisfaction.
