We now allow our hosts to customize their revenue recognition! When configuring your Reservation commission, you’ll have the option to choose whether it’s recognized on check-in, checkout or prorated by night. All existing Reservation commissions default to recognize revenue upon check-in.

Should you need to change how revenue is recognized and you already have published statements, we’d recommend creating a new Reservation commission and applying a new commission period to the statement.

Here’s a video to walk you through what’s changed:

Adding built in costs can also help with revenue recognition. I pay my cleaner a different rate than I charge on Airbnb. So it would be nice to be able to input costs into hospitable (like rent, monthly yard care or hot tub maintenance, as well as cleaning fee)

Hey Scott! Part of your comment sounds like it may be satisfied by our new repeating transactions feature. When you go to add a transaction (which can be an expense or credit to the owner) you can set them to repeat weekly, monthly or to have the QTY increase for every night stayed that month.

I wonder if similar to transactions that have the QTY increased every night stayed in the month, we increase the QTY for every reservation that checks in that month. That would allow you to have a single repeating “Cleaning fee” transaction with a QTY equal to the number of reservations that month, charged to the Owner.

I recognize revenue by month according to the checkin date. Also I would love to see an option to include OTA fees for transparency with owners. Also, there are additional taxes not taken out of the payout by Airbnb. I’d love for the owners statements to calculate these taxes as to not put them in manually each month.

Do you have your commission agreement configured properly for pass-through taxes? If pass-through taxes needs to change hands (either going from PM > Owner, or from Owner > PM) then the value of those taxes should be showing on the Statement.
