This was submitted by support on my behalf, but here’s the real issue: We primarily operate mid-term rentals, and sometimes guests request to extend their stay. We also put a one day block after each reservation because we like to deep clean the property since our guests are typically staying for 3-6 months or longer. For existing guests, we typically try to honor the same pricing they paid, which is usually lower than where our current prices are set. Recently, I tried to send an extension alteration request to the guest but it was being blocked by the one day block we automatically put after each reservation, so I had to manually remove that. Then I couldn’t figure out how to adjust pricing for them down to the daily rate we agreed on, so I had to change it manually in our calendar, then initiate the extension alteration request. The only other option I saw was to provide a new total amount for the entire stay manually, but I couldn’t figure out if that included our monthly discount or not. After I did all that, we received another booking from a different guest before the existing guest could confirm the alteration request. So now we have a different guest booked for the days we wanted to extend to our existing guest and we have to figure out how to do a same day turnaround since I had to manually remove the block on the day we usually keep open for cleaning… Otherwise we would have to cancel on this new guest and take a penalty from Airbnb.

Hi @Zach Kline ! Can you expand on this a little? Are these alterations you’re initiating, or the guest? I’m guessing you’re referring to the scenario when an alteration causes a length of say discount to kick in, reducing the price.
