Problem
Hosts in regulated markets (e.g. Hawaii TAT, EU tourist tax IDs, Portugal AL, Italy CIR, Spain VUT) are legally required to display a tax or license ID in the listing itself. When we try to add these IDs to Hospitable listing text fields such as "Other details to note", Hospitable's format validation rejects them as suspected phone numbers, because the ID contains a digit sequence and dashes (e.g. Hawaii TAT format
TA-XXX-XXX-XXXX-XX
).
Airbnb has no dedicated tax-ID field in their API, so the listing description is the only path β and right now Hospitable's validation blocks it.
Impact
Hosts risk non-compliance and fines from their local tax authority (e.g. Hawaii: "Failure to display TAT license number", tax.hawaii.gov/rental).
Hosts have to reverse-engineer the workaround (strip dashes, concatenate) with no guidance from the UI.
Makes Hospitable feel unusable for compliance-heavy markets until the host stumbles onto the workaround.
