Credit Card Payment Option for Marketplace Prepaid Balance

Problem Statement

Hosts currently cannot use credit cards to fund their Marketplace prepaid balance. The only payment method available is ACH bank transfer from the linked payout account, which creates cash flow challenges and missed financial opportunities.

Current Workaround

Hosts must maintain sufficient funds in their bank account to cover Marketplace charges via ACH transfer, even when waiting for OTA payouts to arrive. This ties up working capital that could be better deployed elsewhere in the business.

Impact

• Cash flow constraints: Hosts must have cash available in their bank account to pay cleaners before receiving OTA payouts, creating timing mismatches
• Lost rewards: Missing out on credit card rewards points on business expenses
• Reduced credit building: Unable to build business credit through regular Marketplace payments
• Less financial flexibility: Cannot leverage credit card float during the gap between paying cleaners and receiving guest payouts

Proposed Solution

Add credit card as a payment method option for funding the Marketplace prepaid balance, alongside the existing bank account ACH transfer option. Hosts could select their preferred payment method in Settings.

• Better manage cash flow by using credit during the period between paying service providers and receiving OTA payouts
• Earn rewards points on Marketplace business expenses
• Build business credit through regular operational payments
• Maintain lower cash reserves in their operating account
