Display Source of Calendar Block and Sync Cancellation Updates on Hospitable

Problem Statement:

  • When a date is blocked on the Hospitable calendar, it only shows as "unavailable" or "blocked" without indicating the source
  • When a reservation is cancelled on an OTA (e.g., Airbnb), Hospitable doesn't always update the calendar to reflect the cancellation
  • This creates confusion where Hospitable shows a date as blocked due to a cancelled reservation, while the OTA itself shows the date as available

Current Workaround:

  • Manually logging into each OTA platform to check for active reservations and cancellations
  • Cross-referencing dates across multiple platforms to identify the source of blocked dates and sync issues

Impact:

  • Wasted time checking multiple platforms when a date shows as blocked
  • Calendar sync issues where Hospitable doesn't reflect cancellations from OTAs
  • Delayed ability to identify and resolve calendar sync issues
  • Increased operational overhead for hosts managing multiple listings

Proposed Solution:

  • When a date is blocked on the Hospitable calendar, display the source of the block (e.g., "blocked by Airbnb booking" or "blocked by Vrbo reservation")
  • Ensure Hospitable properly syncs cancellation updates from connected OTAs to keep the calendar accurate
  • This could be shown as a tooltip, label, or indicator next to the blocked date

Unlock:

  • Hosts would immediately know which platform a blocked date originates from
  • Faster troubleshooting of calendar sync issues
  • Accurate calendar reflecting real-time OTA availability including cancellations
  • Reduced time spent checking multiple platforms
