Enable SMS Messaging for Manual Reservations

Problem Statement:

  • Manual reservations in Hospitable do not support SMS messaging — automated messages are sent via email only
  • Guests with manual bookings don't receive text messages, even when their phone number is provided
  • Other PMS platforms offer SMS messaging for manual reservations

Current Workaround:

  • Hosts must manually text guests or rely on email-only automated messages
  • No way to send automated SMS through Hospitable for manual bookings

Impact:

  • Inconsistent guest communication experience compared to OTA bookings
  • Increased manual workload for hosts who want to text guests
  • Guests may miss important automated messages if they don't check email regularly

Proposed Solution:

  • Add SMS as a messaging channel option for automated messages on manual reservations
  • Allow hosts to choose SMS delivery when a guest's phone number is available

Unlock:

  • Hosts can reach guests via text for manual bookings, just like OTA bookings
  • Improved guest communication and reduced manual follow-up
  • Consistent messaging experience across all reservation types
