Hi Hospitable team,
I’d like to suggest a small but very practical improvement to push notifications for new reservations, particularly for hosts and property managers managing 10+ properties.
At the moment, a new reservation notification tells us the guest name and arrival date, but it does not make it immediately clear which property the reservation is for.
This is particularly important because the standard Airbnb notification doesn’t give us a clear indication of the property either. As a result, when both Airbnb and Hospitable notifications appear on the phone, I can see that a new reservation has arrived, but I still need to open the app to understand which rental it concerns.
I think the limited notification space could be used much more efficiently. Instead of conversational or branding text such as “Hospitable 💜 Stan” and “Hi Stan…”, the notification could prioritise the four pieces of information a host actually needs at a glance:
Property code · Platform · Status
Guest · Stay dates
For example:
HBA · Airbnb · Reservation confirmed
Layla Venn · 29 Jul – 5 Aug
This would be extremely easy to scan. I immediately know:
HBA → which rental
Airbnb → where the reservation came from
Reservation confirmed → what happened
Layla Venn · 29 Jul – 5 Aug → who and when
Ideally, Hospitable could use the property's existing short code/nickname, rather than the full listing name. For managers with many properties, these short codes are often how we identify rentals operationally.
The same logic could also improve other notifications such as “Message prepared”, “Message sent”, cancellations, alterations, etc.
There is very little useful screen space in a mobile notification. Giving priority to property + platform + event + guest/dates would make Hospitable's notifications substantially more useful than the standard OTA notifications rather than simply duplicating them.
I think this would be a relatively small UX improvement, but a very meaningful one for professional and multi-property hosts.
Best, Stan
