Hospitable Cleaning Fees Do Not Push to Airbnb Pricing

Summary:

Hospitable’s Cleaning fee feature does NOT push cleaning fees through to Airbnb even though the setting in Hospitable strongly implies it does. The misleading functionality resulted in 3 auto-bookings occurring before I fixed this problem resulting in $300 in lost cleaning fees that I now need to come out of pocket for. This is the second major problem I have now had with misleading Hospitable features that has cost me extensive money and time and is eroding my confidence in the service. I already reported on the existence in Hospitable of a feature allowing you to change the property for an Airbnb booking through “Alter reservation”, but the failure of that option in practice resulting in extensive time trying to fix things with Airbnb support. Please fix these misleading features ASAP.

Details:
I initially deleted the $100 cleaning fee in Airbnb because that fee was already in Hospitable. In Hospitable, for this listing and my other 7 listings, the Airbnb listing shows "fully managed" by Hospitable. Hospitable also showed the cleaning fee as set at $100 for Airbnb as well as for Direct.

Once the cleaning fees for each of the listings were deleted in the Airbnb settings, however, the cleaning fee was no longer being pushed to pricing on Airbnb, allowing people to book with no cleaning fee.

I tried to reverse this by putting the cleaning fee back into the Airbnb settings for the listings, but after re-adding the cleaning fee in Airbnb the fee would still not push to the listing pricing. I tried several different things to try to get the Airbnb and Hospitable apps to sync up, including making small changes to the cleaning fee (increased them to $101) to see if the change forced a sync that would push the cleaning fees to Airbnb, but this had no effect.

I finally disconnected Airbnb from Hospitable, and after a short while I reconnected them, thinking the connection or sync may have been glitching preventing the cleaning fee from being pushed to the listings even when added through the Airbnb side.

At the time I reconnected Airbnb and Hospitable the cleaning fees in Airbnb were all set to $0, and the cleaning fees in Hospitable for the Airbnb listings were all set to $100. This cleaning fee was STILL not getting pushed to Airbnb pricing.

Finally, I added the cleaning fee again directly to the listings in Airbnb, and they finally started showing up in the pricing quotes again.

Analysis:

-          It seems that when I first deleted the cleaning fees in Airbnb, Hospitable never took over and pushed them to Airbnb listings (note: Hospitable was still pushing the cleaning fee to Hospitable Direct listings)

-          The fact that adding the fee back on through the Airbnb website didn’t restore the cleaning fee seems to have perhaps been a glitch where the fee wasn’t being pushed by Hospitable, but the Hospitable connection was preventing the fee entered through Airbnb from being pushed to the price either

-          After disconnecting and reconnecting the Airbnb listings to Hospitable, the connection seemed restored, but importantly if there was no fee on the Airbnb website, but Hospitable said it was pushing the fee to Airbnb listings, the fee did NOT get pushed through

-          Adding the cleaning fee back in the Airbnb listings through the Airbnb website restored the cleaning fees once I disconnected and then reconnected the listings to reestablish the connection.
