Improve visual distinction between host and guest messages in the Inbox

Problem statement

When managing guest conversations in the Hospitable Inbox (especially on mobile/iPhone), it's difficult to quickly distinguish between host messages and guest messages. The font, background, and lack of bold highlights make the conversation view bland and hard to scan at a glance β€” particularly when compared to platforms like Airbnb where the visual distinction is much clearer.

Current workaround

Hosts are switching back to the Airbnb platform to manage their guest conversations because it's easier to read and navigate there, especially when handling multiple guests at once.

Impact

  • Slows down response time when managing multiple conversations
  • Creates extra steps in the workflow (switching between Hospitable and Airbnb)
  • Reduces the ability to fully use Hospitable's Inbox and other messaging features
  • Undermines the value proposition of consolidating guest communication in one platform
  • Particularly problematic for mobile users who manage their business on the go

Proposed solution

Enhance the visual design of the Inbox conversation view with:

  • Darker or bolder text for host messages
  • Improved background color contrast between host and guest messages
  • Better use of bold highlights or other visual cues to differentiate message senders
  • Mobile-optimized design (especially for iPhone users)

Unlock

Hosts would be able to manage all their guest conversations directly within Hospitable without needing to switch to channel platforms like Airbnb, enabling faster responses and a more streamlined workflow β€” especially when juggling multiple guests at once.

Please authenticate to join the conversation.
