Keep guest name visible at top of mobile inbox when typing

Problem statement

Currently, when using the Hospitable mobile app to respond to guests, the guest name disappears from view when the keyboard appears and the user clicks into the text box to type. This makes it difficult to verify the guest's name while composing a message, creating a risk of addressing guests incorrectly.

Current workaround

Hosts must type their message, exit the text box, scroll back up to view the guest name, memorize it, then return to the message box to verify they've used the correct name before sending. This requires multiple steps and context-switching for each message.

Impact

  • Risk of addressing guests by the wrong name, creating an unprofessional experience
  • Extra steps and interruptions to the message composition workflow
  • Increased time to send each message
  • Frustration and reduced efficiency when managing multiple conversations

Proposed solution

Keep the guest name persistently visible at the top of the screen (in a fixed header or sticky element) even when the keyboard is active and the user is typing in the message box. This would allow hosts to reference the guest name at any time without exiting the text box or scrolling.

Unlock

Hosts would be able to:

  • Verify guest names while typing without interrupting their workflow
  • Compose personalized messages more confidently and efficiently
  • Reduce the risk of addressing guests incorrectly
  • Save time when managing multiple guest conversations on mobile
