MCP create-reservation should skip parent-calendar check for independent child-unit bookings

Problem Statement:

  • When a child unit (e.g., HB102) is booked via Airbnb/VRBO, the parent calendar shows as BLOCKED
  • This block propagates to other child units (e.g., HB101), preventing independent direct bookings via the MCP create-reservation tool
  • OTA bookings (Airbnb/VRBO) already work correctly β€” only direct booking through MCP is affected
  • Users want to keep the parent-child relationship for combined bookings but also allow independent child-unit bookings via direct booking

Current Workaround:

  • None currently available. Users must either:
  • Remove the parent-child relationship entirely (losing the ability to book units together)
  • Manually override blocks, which is error-prone

Impact:

  • Lost booking opportunities on available child units via direct booking
  • Guests cannot book individual units when the parent is blocked due to another child being occupied on an OTA
  • Operational friction for hosts managing multi-unit properties

Proposed Solution:

  • Update the MCP create-reservation tool to skip the parent-calendar check when booking a child property whose own calendar is available
  • Maintain the current behavior where combined bookings on the parent block all children

Unlock:

  • Hosts can maximize occupancy by allowing independent direct bookings on available child units
  • OTA bookings continue to work as expected
  • Combined bookings still work as expected (parent booking blocks all children)
  • Better control over multi-unit property management
