Percentage-based payout splits in Tasks for team managers

Problem statement

Secondary Users who manage cleaning teams cannot receive a percentage of task payouts through Hospitable Tasks. Currently, Tasks only supports fixed-amount payouts to Teammates (cleaners), with no way to automatically split a task payment between a team manager and the cleaner performing the work.

Current workaround

Team managers must either:

  • Set the full task payout amount to themselves and pay cleaners separately outside of Hospitable, or
  • Set the task payout to the cleaner's portion only (e.g., $120) and handle their own commission (e.g., $30) outside of Tasks entirely

Impact

  • Adds manual work and complexity to payment workflows
  • Reduces the value of Tasks for team managers who take a commission
  • Forces team managers to use external payment tools (Venmo, Zelle, etc.) to handle splits
  • Makes it harder to track full payment history in one place
  • Limits adoption of Tasks for users managing teams with commission-based structures

Proposed solution

Allow users (including Secondary Users) to configure percentage-based payout splits on tasks. For example:

  • Set a task payment to $150
  • Assign 80% ($120) to the cleaner (Teammate)
  • Assign 20% ($30) to the team manager (Secondary User or another Teammate)
  • Hospitable automatically calculates and distributes both payouts

Team managers could fully adopt Tasks for end-to-end payment workflows, eliminating the need for external payment tools and manual calculations.
