Problem Statement
When guests book through Airbnb and opt in for pet fees or trip insurance during the Airbnb booking process, Hospitable's Guest Portal re-offers these same upsells as if they haven't been purchased yet. This creates confusion for guests who believe they may be charged twice or that there's an error in the booking process.
Current Workaround
Hosts must manually explain to confused guests that the upsells shown in the Guest Portal are optional add-ons and won't result in double charges if they've already purchased them on Airbnb. Some hosts may need to clarify the difference between Airbnb's pricing breakdown and Hospitable's upsell offerings.
Impact
Proposed Solution
Hospitable should detect when a guest has already purchased pet fees, trip insurance, or other upsells through Airbnb during the booking process. Instead of re-offering these items in the Guest Portal, the system should display them as "Already Purchased" or hide them entirely from the upsell options.
Unlock
Hosts would provide a seamless, professional guest experience from booking through check-in. Guests would feel confident that the system recognizes their purchases, reducing confusion and support requests. This would improve guest satisfaction and reduce the manual workload for hosts who currently need to explain the discrepancy.
