Tax remittance breakdown included with payout notifications

Problem statement

Premium hosts who use Hospitable's tax remittance service currently have no simple way to prove to local tax authorities (e.g., county tax offices) that Hospitable has collected and remitted taxes on their behalf. When asked for proof, hosts must:

• Navigate to Metrics → Exports → Taxes
• Download a CSV export
• Filter the export to find the specific reservation and tax jurisdiction
• Explain the "Remitted" vs "Pass-through" status column to the requesting authority

This process is confusing, time-consuming, and not intuitive for hosts who simply need to show their county that taxes were handled.

Current workaround

Hosts manually export the Taxes CSV from Metrics → Exports → Taxes, filter it by reservation code and jurisdiction, and send the filtered rows to the tax authority. This requires technical knowledge of CSV filtering and often leads to confusion when the export includes tax lines from other booking types (e.g., Vrbo entries appearing even when the host has never received a Vrbo payout).

Impact

• Hosts waste time navigating complex exports when dealing with urgent county requests
• Tax authorities may not accept or understand a CSV export, leading to compliance issues or penalties for the host
• The lack of a simple, official-looking document undermines host confidence in Hospitable's tax remittance service
• Premium hosts feel the feature gap compared to Mogul (which offers Owner Statements), even though a full Owner Statement isn't needed—just clear tax proof

Proposed solution

Include a simple, clear tax remittance breakdown with each payout notification (email and/or dashboard). The breakdown should:

• List each tax type collected for that payout
• Clearly indicate which taxes were "Remitted by Hospitable" vs "Passed through to you"
• Be available to Premium hosts (not just Mogul)
• Be formatted in a way that can be easily forwarded or screenshotted for tax authorities

Alternatively, provide a one-click "Download Tax Remittance Summary" button on each payout detail page.

This would reduce support tickets, increase host confidence in Hospitable's tax handling, and eliminate compliance friction with local tax offices.
